SECRET ORDERS AT EXPOSITION. Many Important Conclaves Scheduled for Ter-Centennlal. Tty Mark O. Water*. Norfolk, Va.. Feb. *7.?Not only >vill the Jamestown ter-centennial exposition, which opens on the shores of Hampton Roads, Va., April 25th, be the occasion of a grand "home-coming" for the people of Virginia, but of the nation, in celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the tirst permanent English settlement in Amer ica, hut it will be the occasion for a large number of conclaves, conventions, conferences and assemblies. Altogether there will be over two hundred of these events and among them many secret order gatherings, and, the pass word and the grip will be much in evidence in these fraternal c? mierences. I he tirst event of this kind scheduled is the Odd Fellows Grand Lodge of Virginia, which meets May 14-17. and during part of this time the Improved Order of Red Men will assemble. This latter order will represent the landing of Captain John Smith. Three ships will be built to represent the Godspeed, the Susan Constant and "the j-jjscovery and, both palefaces and retT* skinV?^T.U?;r represented in appropriate costume. Tl\l>- 'T\"*ll a log house or building in which will be displayed all relics of the aboriginccs and everything of historical nature that relates to the tir<t American, the Indian. The great council of Red Men will occur at the exposition September 9- to. On May gist, the Virginia branch of the Junior Order of United Americans will meet and the State council of the same order on October 13-14. June 5th the National Order of Heptasophs, or Seven Wise Men, will meet, and June ibth the Benevolent and Pro4^,-.;..., n-n..- .^f triL-c a,ran the Knights of Columbus, and August 11th tin. National Haymakers' association. The Uniform Rank, Knights of Pythias will encamp by brigades on the military camp ground of the exposition. and it is expected that several thousand knights will be in attendance. The Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia brigades will be in camp from July 29th to August 3rd. inclusive, and the Ohio brigades from August 3rd to August 10th. inclusive. Brigades from other States will be assigned dates later, but their encampments will be held in July. Major B. E. Rice, senior major of the Eirst Virginia regiment, has charge of the K. of P. featurt'sTu"^"/^* ^ tion. August 11-17 the national encampment of the Knights of the Maccabees will be held at the exposition and it is exnectcd that at l..act , - ?.? ,-)V/?V/VA^ II ' Mil the United States and Canada will attend. August 1S-24 is given to the Woodmen of the World, and September 2-7 to the Fraternal Order oi Eagles. At this latter meeting it is ex-1 peeled that there will be 50.000 mem-; hers of the order present. September 25th is given to the convention of the Society of Colonial Wars. September 26-27 the national association of veterans of the Mexican war; October 7-9, the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of j Virginia; October to-11, the Grand I Commandery Knights Templar of Vir-j ginia; October It, the Daughters of j the Revolution; October 11-12, Sons of Revolution; October 15-17. Ancient " ' and Illustrious Knights of Malta; N'o-j vcmber 11-13, American Federation of | Labor; November 13-14. Urfted I Daughters of the Confederacy.
