Hydrick, both of Spartanburg, were candidates for Judge of 7th oirouit which appeared In both of the Spartanburg daily papers and as a special from ^Spartanburg to the Greenville Daily News, some weeks ago was evidently written by one person, and was either a feeler or a straight put before the people the names of these two gentlemen as opponents of Judge D. A. Townsend. The Spartanburg Journal of the 17th inst. says: "Two Judges will be elected at the next session of the legislature and a number of prominent attorneys have been mentioned for one of these places. Judge Townsend's term in the 7th circuit expires and while his name has not been mentioned to succeed himself there are I others spoken of, among them being O. P. Sanders of 6partanburg; F. P. McGowan, senator from Laurens, and Senator D. E. Hydrick of Spartanburg." TheJournal is mistaken when it says that the name of Judge D. A. Townsend has not been montioned to succeed himself as judge of 7th circuit. The Union Times in its issue of the firat week in January mentioned the fact that Judge D. A. Townaend would be a candidate for re-election at the next aeaaion of the legi8lature. Thia mention waa made in connection with the complimentary remarks of the grand jury about Judge Townaend in their presentment. Judge D. A.
