Be It. ordained by the Mayor ami Aldermen of the Town of Union, S. O., in Council assembled and by the authority of sun": That a tax to cover the expense of' said town of Union, from t.hc first day of May, 1902, to the first day of May, 190d, foe levied and collected in niiiini.'?j^)il form us follows; Sec. 1. That a tax of one (I) mill upon every dollar of the value of all real estalo, personal proporty and stock in trade is hereby levied for a Sinking Fund to redeem bonds. Sec. 2. That a tax of two and onehalf (2?) mills upon every dollar of the value of all roal estate, personal I property and stock In trade, is hereby levied to pay interest, on water works, electric lights and water iml provement bonds. Sko. 8. That a tax of six and onehalf ((>$) mills upon every dollar of the value of real estate, personal property, and stock in trade is hereby levied to meet the ordinary expenses of municipal government of said town for the fiscal year beginning the first day of May 1902. Sko. 4. That the sum of two (2) dollars be fixed as a commutation for the street or road duty, and the said sum to be paid by all able bodied male persons able to perform or cause to be performed the labor herein required, between the ag< s of eighteen (18) and fifty (50) years, wlio reside within tho corporate limits of said town, except ordained ministers and those exempt by law, and auy person liable to this tax, who shall fail to pay within the time specified, shall be required to work upon the streets of Union four days under the direction of the street overseer, and any person failing either to pay said commutation or perform said labor, shall be brought before tho Mayor's court and, upon conviction, shall be fined in a sum not exceeding ten (10) dollars or im prisoninent not exceeding twenty (20) days, either or both. Skc. 5. That, one-half of the taxes herein levied and assessed shall be duo and collected in the month of May, 1902 and the remaining half shall bo due and collected during the month of October, 1902. Skc. G. That the Town Clerk and Treasurer shall proceed to collect one-half of the taxes herein levied, and that he shall keep his hooks open from the first day of May, next, to the first day of June, 1902, for this purpose; after which time ho shall proceed by distress or otherwise, as prescribed by law, to collect such as remains unpaid with a penalty of twenty (20) per cent, and cost of collecting added. Sf.c. 7. That the town Clerk and Treasurer shall re-open his books and keep them open from the first day of October next to the first, day of November, 1902, for the purp iso of collecting the remaining half of ! the taxes herein levied, after which time he shall proceed by distress or otherwise as prescribed by law to collect such as remuins unpaid with a penalty of twenty (20) per cent, and cost of collecting added. Skc. 8. That the basis of value for taxation of real estate, personal property and stock in trade, shall he taken from assessments as levied by County Auditor in 1901 and 1902. Skc. 9.
