XI began with a very liberal ( rerttAlat patronage, and in fact < ? ?m- . W ???? THE FAMOUS MRS. WARD. The Renowned Clairvoyant and Spirit Medium, of Augusta, G*., in Union. A Very Remarkable Woman. Mrs Ward, tlie famous prophetess, clairvoyant and spirit medium, of whom wo have read bo much, is in Union. She is at tho home of Mrs J. G. Hughes, on Churoh street, aud is endeavoring to render some assistance to.Mrs. Hughes' little afflicted son, Bennie. It will bo remembered that Mrs. Ward has made a great number of remarkable predictions, among them the assassination of President McKinley, the big firo at Augusta, the St. Louis fire, etc. She has also predicted that President Roosevelt will be assassinated. Besides these the has performed some other wonderful feats as a spirit medium. We called to see her one evening this week and find her very interesting in conversation. She says she cannot explain or accouut fer her power but she knows she has it. She Bays she just simply concentrates her thoughts upon the subject and the picture is revealed. She describes the picture aB it is revealed to her These pictures, she says, are spirits one or unoro hovering around her subject. We suggested that there was considerable fake business along this line, which she readily acknowledged, and says she can blame no one for their doubts until they are convinced to their own entire satisfaction. There have already been crowds of both ladies and gentlemen to see her since she has been in Union, and all who 50 seem to be favorably impressed ind astonished at her revelations, iuite a number have had her to read :heir history, past and future, and were aswmsneci. Among other things she told uh, she said there would be three big fires in this town n less than six months and warns all ;o keep insured, which is pretty good idvlce to say the least of it. One jentleman is somewhat excited on recount of her telling him she saw hat he was to be burned out this rear. She will be here only a few lays and those who wish to see thlB woman who has gained a national 'eputatlon for the accuracy of her predictions had better call early. We suggest that an arrangement be mads for her to give a seance, in which she jays she can cause mysterious lights bo appear in a dark room, a table to bap and jump about the floor, notwithstanding the greatest efforts of bhose hold of it to hold it still. Let lis have a seance. I f not in the opera house, let's have it in some home. We acknowledge to a desire to see some of these mysterious demonitrations. * * We do notiwish to call names with)ut permission, but she has told peo pie of several incidents in their Uvea chat they had forgotten, and at first luswered no, Mrs. Ward insisted that ihe was right and upon thinking sack the incidents were recalled. Mrs. Ward replied "I canaot be mistaken in this, I distinctly tee her by your side and she certainly is your sister." The lady thought i moment, and replied, "You are right, I had forgotten. I have a lead sister, she died, however, 12 rears before I was born, and as she was quite small I had forgotten about ler long ago, and am accustomed to laying I am the only ehild." She ;old us she saw an elderly gentleman itanding by our side, and accurately lescribed a deceased uncle, who has )een dead some 15 or 1C years, even lescribing his ailment when he died. She also told us of some lost land papers, lescribiDg the land even to a stream hat ran in the rear of the property in mother city, at the same time she deteribed another piece of property in the State of Florida. These are only a few >f the astonishing things she did. Some >f her revelations were given under the noat trying circumstances, viz: there were a number present who were conit&ntly talking, giggling, moving about, criticising, etc. We have seen so much 'aking and read so .many exposures along his line that we acknowledge to a couilderab'.e amount of skepticism at the )eginning. But Mrs. Ward soon impressed us as being a truly gcod, chris.ian woman, and thoroughly consciensious in what she was doing. She certainly has some mysterious power, and 'requently receives visitations while talking tliat shocks her whole frame in in appearently painful manner. Hxamiaia/t the I^ist. We announced last week that those wishing to secure board at Charleston while visiting the Exposition, sould call at The Times office and sxamine the list. As a result of this notice there have been quite a number of persons in examining the list, rhis looks like Union is going to be well represented.
