I<ittlc Folks on the Stage. t'l The Id tie folks on Church Street gave a show last Friday evening, 'J. ut the homo of Mr. .1 Ike Harris. (, which was very much enjoyed by all d present. There was no drop curtain, ^ but this was soon overcame by two |gentlemen in the audience volunteer- |f ing to do the curtain act. A sheet ,j. was provided and the men held it stts- \\ petuled utnil it was rung up after the i performers had assumed their post- J? tions on the stage. But being nov- A iees in the stage business, these gen- ' tlemcn reversed the usual order <>f 1 things and when the curtain was rung I-J up, instead of going up from the bottom it came down from the top, ' and lay upon the floor while the men retired from their rather conspicuous positions until their services were again required. The show was an all-round success, * several characters were represented : "Buffalo Bill" a Ghost scene, the ^ "Lovers" the "Fortune tolling Gypsy" and others which, characters were well represented by the children, some of whom would occasionally SI lose their lines, but would immediate substitute words, which fit just as well. This is au evidence of tal- hi ent, and shows some good stage material is growing up in Union. 'h The children are so well pleased >1' with the result, financial and other- l!l wise, that they are practicing dili- _ gently for another entertuinmenl which will bo put upon the stage at an early date.
