Difficulty Near Cross Keys.
A clifliculty occurred Inst Friday,
in Mr. J. A. Betsil's place, near J
'ross Kevs, between Mr. J. L. Betil
and a negro, named Boh Miller,
dr. J. A. Betsil and one of his crop
>ers, Mack Miller, were in an argunent,
when Bob said to Mack, "come

o him as you please." Mr. J. L.,

This so infuriated Bob that he raised
in axe and rushed at Mr. J. L., who

the state are in Union in attendance
upon the Convocation in session at
I the Church of the Nativity. The
I meeting lias been enjoyed by all who
have attended. Our visitors are
charmed with our little city and its
people. We are pleased to have these

hope that their stay will be pleasant
and that they will carry away with

Mr. B. F. Bailey, president of the l?;c
cotton mill at Abbeville, S. C., is spending
a few days in Union, tnkincr a look
at. our mills, lie visited the Monarch
Mill Wednesday with the other mill men
and capitalists from the North. lie expresses
himsHf as follows:
'Tt is a beautiful mill, on a pretty
site, and have not a single criticism to
make."
The northern capitalists had just hern
over to visit his mill in Abbeville in
which some of them ate interested.
Mr. Bailey is accompanied by his
superintendent, Mr, Thompson.
