Great Ball to be Played This Season?lixpeet to Have the Best Team in the South. Propose to Knockout Everything that Comes in Sight. A meeting of the citizens was lieKl in the Court House in Union hist Fiiday, the purpose of which meeting was to reorganize the famous Union Base Ball Association. Tho organization was perfected by the election of the following ollioers : President, Macbeth Young; Manager, S. Means Beaty; Sec'y. and Treas'r., J. B. Itichards. Two committees were appointed the llrst, consisting of the above named oflicers, is a committee to solicit subscriptions of cash to the organization. It is purposed to raise from ?750 to $1,000 to put the Association on good footing. The second committee, composed of Messrs. W. W. Ilughes, W. II. Sartor and Dr. F. C. I)ukc, were instructed to select a desirable location for the building of the base ball park. Both Committees have gone dilligently to work, and the soliciting committee are meeting with encouragement. The p 11k committe have taken a look at several places that have been offered for the j>ark and seem to favor the ground in rear of the Ilill House as the most desirable for the purpose. When it is remembered with what phenominal success this Association met last year, the initial venture of this town in a regularly organized base ball tjim, it will not be surprising if all eyes aie turned on Union this year, with great anticipations of the production of a regular crackcr-jrck team from the jump. Union's team last year was one of the hardest in the South to handle and was the means of a valuable advertising of our little city, and tin managers say they are going to have a team this season that will even excell that of last year. They are already in communication with a number of noted players, among whom are the very best nlavers we had last year, Davy Crockett, Jimmy Matthews and Bob Burnett. The very cream of the players will be oho3on, and when they get in working harness look for squalls for some over-con(1 lent team, who has the temerity to face them. We hope the financial committee will meet with suocess even beyond their expectations, should she succeed in securing the team desired, Union could not well do anything that would more thoroughly advertise the town, an! there will be lots of fun in store foi her citi zens. We hope that a large v> umber of the games will be pulled of! in Union. Railroad Changes, It seems there is going to loo a regu'ar shift arouni of the whole force at the Union depot, to take place on the tirst of next mouth. Mr. W. II.
