County Will Hold First Event of KiiHl?Company is Formed and Officers Elected. Blshopville, May 20.?The Lee County Agricultural and Mechanical Fair association has been organised and the officers and directors elected, and already a force of hands is at work grading and preparing to erect fences and grandstands. The first thing that will be put in readiness will be an athletic field and arrangements made for summer baseball. A race track will be built at once' for the use of horsemen and motorcycles and automobiles. The track as laid out will be a three-quarter mile track. A beautifully situated lot of 16 acres in the northeastern part of the city has been purchased and the orders for lumber and other building material placed and arrangements will be har? ried so that Lee county will stage its first fair the coming fall. The fair association will be incor? porated and will have a paid in cap? ital of $15,000. The officers and di? rectors are all well known and promi? nent business men, farmers, mer? chants and bankers from all sections of the county and it is to be in every sense a county fair. The following are the directors: E. S. Xewsome, O. W. Houck. W. J. DuBose, H M. Jenkins, Geo. MeCutchen, Hal Williamson, C. H. Peoples, H. W. Woodward, S. L. Austin, W. A. Stuck ey, J. C. Josey, R. M. Cooper, Jr. The officers are: ?W. A. Stuckey, president; 8. L. Austin, vice president; W. R. Scarborough, secretary and treasurer. Committee on baseball and track sports Is: Roland L Hearon, chair? man; M. B. MeCutchen, Q. F. Parrott, S. L. Austin, H W. Woodward. Buildings and grounds: J. P. Kil gore, chairman; W. A. Stuckey, S. Levy Austin, W. W. MeCutchen, R. M. Cooper, Jr. Each township in the county is well represented among the officers and shareholders, especial effort being made to scatter the stock over all of the county so that it will bo truly a county fair. A committee has been appointed to visit Batcsburg and Orangeburg and get ideas from their fair grounds and buildings?this is not with a view to duplicating them, but to excelling them. It is one of the good signs of the times that in a campaign year when nearly every one is absorbed in poli? tics people from every district come together and put through such an un? dertaking for the uplift and advertis? ing of this, the cream of the State ag? riculturally.
