The little boy had been sick for several days prior to his death which came at about 11 o'clock Friday morning. The funeral service was be conducted at the residence of Co!. W. D. Momberg of tha premier's entourage reiterated today that Yuan never will advise the ab? dication of the emperor, and thereby become a traitor. They say that if i the formation of a republic is un? avoidable he will resign as premier. It. had been suspected that Tans Shao Yl, the representative of Yuan and the Lmperial government at the Shanghai peace conference, and Yuan were playing a prearranged game with the intention of gradually shear? ing the Manchus of power and there? by preventing a Manchu rising in Peking; but the fact that 'Tang has telegraphed friends hare asking them to persuade Yuan of the necessity to accept a republic seemingly indicates that Tang and the premier are not in accord. Scruggs, of Greenville, sold eight gallons of corn whiskey here that had been seized from an illicit distillery in the mountains. Oconee being a dry coun? ty. State Liquor Constable A. T. Reld arrested Deputy Collector Scruggs, who gave bond for appearance in Mm-istrato's Court today. The result of the hearing before the magistrate was that the case was sent up to the Court of General Sessions for trial and Mr. Scruggs has made bond for his appearance at the March term.
