Greenville, May Engenta Gll? reath, the sixteen- months-old daugh? ter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gllreath, of Greera, was run over this afternoon by a delivery wagon and her skull frac? tured, death resulting at once A young white man man named Bub Qlenn. wag driving the delivery wagon, and while looking over an order book, ran over the little girl, who was In the street. He did not know of the accident until he had driven a couple of blocks. It Is said he is almost frantic with grief. The little girl had slipped out of the house and into the street where she wss killed. KIDNAPPER CONVICTED. Jury Found James Boyle Guilty in Short Time?Mrs. Boyle on Trial. Mercer. Pa., May 6.?Jsmes Boyle, charged with kidnappnng "Billy" Whltla, was convicted today after a trial lasting but a few hours. No de? fense was made, and the Jury was out but a few min u ten. Mrs Boyle indict? ed nnder the name of Mary Doe, with half a dosen aliases, was Immediately placed upon trial charged with aiding the kidnapping. Hardly had the Jury been sworn in the woman's case when the lawyers became engaged In a legal srgumsnt regarding the admission of certsin testimony, and the case was ad adjourned until morning tomorrow. May 6.?That the eehools of Greenville will continue ?h re seen * to be a reasonable doubt patrons of the various sob the city get together and raise u guarantee or the necessary funds to enable the schools to con? tinue to the end of the regular term. The board of trustee held a meeting today and passed a resolution order? ing the city schools to olose tomorrow, the seventh of May. The resolution states thst the patrons of the school have not been successful In raising the necessary funds, and that the school must close unless the funds are raised, or unless ths teachers are willing to teach on to the end of the year trusting that the patrons will make up the deficiency. Some time ago the news was sent to the patrons that it would be neces? sary for all to combine in the work to keep the schools open until the end of the regular term, because of heavy expenses caused by providing new grsdes snd additional teachers. Each family was asked for two dollars and a half, but until today the amount has not been raised and the board has or? dered the schools to close. The bill was unfavor? ably reported upon by the committee to which It was assigned. Senator Sloan of Lakeland spoke in favor of his measure and Senator McMullln of Tampa presented resolutions from Tampa city council asking Its passage. Senator Buckrnan of Jacksonville made a vigorous flght against the bill and endeavored to amend It so that the anti-gambling feature would ap? ply to bride whist.
