Jan. 20.?Mr. Washing? ton Allen died at his home In State burg township on the 9tg of Jan. 190?. Mr. Allen was one of the oldest men in his immediate section, being 91 years and five months old. He was widely known and highly respected. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss. He was a member of the Baptist chureh for nearly 70 years. He served In the Confederate war and was loved and respected by his comrades. We will all feelvni3 loss as a noble citizen and a wise counselor. Mr. Allen will remain in the hearts and minds of his friends and rela? tives for a lo:ig period of time. His bereaved widow has the sympathy of the community. She is 81 years of age and take* the death of her hus? band very hard. The sad news of the death of Mr. J. W. Bobbins at his home in Max ton, N. C, was received in this city Friday. Jan. 16th. 1909, Miss E. Jane McKinney, aged 69 years. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends who had gathered to pay their last sad tribute of respect to her remains. She was burled from Bethel M. E., church of which she was a faithful member until her death. She was beloved and esteemed bv all who knew her. Admitted to Bar. Mr. A. Ollbert Flowers, who has been a resident of Washington, D. C, for the past six years, was admitted to the bar on Thursday last and is now a regularly enrolled attorney of his adopted city.
