WOODMEN UNVEIL MONUMENTS. Impressive and Beuutful Ceremonies at Suinter Cemetery on Sunday Af? ternoon. Hollywood Camp, No. 10. W. O. W.. unveiled two handsome manuments Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Sumtor Cemetery. These monuments marked the last resting places of two of the sovereigns of Hollywood Camp?Messrs. O. Marvin Dorn and Milton B Wltherspoon. There w;re about 200 Woodmen In attendance besides a large number of ether peoplo, although the afternoon was very cold. After the unveiling, the crowd went to the stand In the middle of the cemetery and there the beautiful ode of the order waft recit? ed by Mrs. Laura Lebby, and a mo*t lmpreeolve and apprpoprlate oration was dcliveed by Mr. C. Brown that a portion of the court house grounds be appropriated for the erection of a monument to the late W. S. Graham, chief of the fire department, who was killed while In the discharge of duty, was that the authority of the board to grant the request is doubtful. A special act of the legislature would probably be necessary to legalize the grant of land asked for by Dr. Brown In behalf of the Graham monument committee. Another objection was raised by a member of the board to wit: that the granting of this request, in itself un? objectionable, would establish a pre? cedent that might, and probably would, prove awkward In fuluie. If one committee Is granted the right to erect a monument o^n the court house square to an individual, this board and future boards Would be bound in fairness to grant similar re? quests made by any other committee of citizens, white or colored, who might fool desirous of honoring tho memory of a friend. Washington, Feb. 4?The govern? ment is assembling and preparing to dispatch to the Philippines another battleship squadron to join Admiral Evans' fleet. It has become known authoritative? ly that the a dm' n ist ration plans to have the Evans fleet return by way of Sues canal, but by the time Admi? ral Evans is ready to weigh anchor in the Philippines his fleet will have been rupplcmented by six battleships and two armored cruisers. It is the plan of the navy board to divide the Evans fleet into two parts after its arrival in the Philippines. The first squadron will proceed homeward late this year or early next year by the Suez canal, leaving; the eight battleships, of the last two divis '.ons as a rear guard. These eight ships, supplemented by the six which will have arrived, will make foruteen battleships in the far East. Japan has only fourteen bat? tleships altogether.
