The State League has compiled with all the rules and regulations of the National com? mission and has paid the required as? sessment for 1908. The franchise is therefore in good standing and othens who hav*' gone ahead with their ar? rangements a.s if the Slate League did not exist and held no franrnlse and had no claim on the players un? der contract last vear, will realize a little later on that the State League is a live issue sure enough. ? ? ? Spartan ourg. whose withdrawal from the State League has been sanc? tioned, is starting out in the right way to win the pennant in the Inter State League?a sure enough man? ager has been engaged at the outset. Carlton Buesse, who managed Or? angeburg last season, will boss the Spartan bunch this season. He will probably lead the league, since he will not have to go up against Sumter and Gunter. ? ? ? Felix Dingle, who goes back to Nor? folk this year, will be missed In Sum? ter. He was one of the best and most popular players on the team. a . s s McDonald, pitcher, and Shea, catch er, with Moffett's Ohattanooga-Flor enco aggregation last year, are to be given a tryout by Billy Smith, of At? lanta. They will probably not make good, unless a wonderful improve? ment has taken place In their playing during the winter. tea., The Jay-rubc dope writer of the Co? lumbia Record slurs at the Sumter ball park.
