Oct. 14.-There were no suspicion? cases reported to day and there has been no death from den? gue or yellow fever. All of fhe ll cases reported as yellow fever have been discharged or are convalescent. Houston raised her quarantine against Galveston for the second time to-day indications are that io a few days all Texas towns will raise their quarantine against Galveston .and Houston and business will be rescmed Franklin, La., Oct. 14.-V. Caro, an Italian tailor, died to-day of yellow fever. His residence was in the heart of tbe town and the authorities have not been a?le to discover the origin of the infection. Sorantoo. The amounts received from the M'veral operators in royalty are as follow*, being up to the end of the month of September : Beaufort Phosphate com? pany, $8,926 50; Coosaw ?18 567 50 ; Farmers* Mining company $10,752; James Reid, $1.300. The Coosaw is the only company to pay any royalty during the past tno months. Greenville's Tax on the 0. P. Stores. Greenville. Oct 13-There is a new tum in the original package business here This afternoon a special meeting of city council was held and the ordinance of the 5th was repealed and a new ordinance was adopted. The provisions of the new ordinance require $150 to* be paid in advance and a graduated scale is adopted from ?2.000 up to 13, OOO The limit is ?500 tax on any amount of liquor sold J E Payne, F. M. Simmons and M Fla?an. the largest dealers, will comply with the ordinance and to morrow will make the advance payment as required The payment will be made under pro test. A number of the small dealers have employed Blythe & Blythe as atiorneys and propose to contest the right of the city to impose the tax. The eily authorities are determined to test the matter and will proceed to morrow to execute the ordinance. A startling sensation is expected to-morrow m connection with the action of the city in executing this attempt to force the original package houses to pay for doing business. Go to T. C.
