NEW YORK, June 26 -The Sun says: Cotton declined 3 to 6 points, but recovered this and advanced 3 to 6, closing steady, with sales of 10S, 900 bales. To-day's features : The Texas drought is still unbroken, and prices are up again. The prolonged dry weather is becoming the all-absorbing topic of conversation through the world. To-day Liverpool bought and there was also good buying for local account, as weil as a very fair demand from the South July notices for perhaps 3,000 bales were issued to day, but they were stopped and of course this Vas too small a factor to influence the market one way or another. The Liverpool rtoGk is now only 883,000 bales, against 647,000 a week ago, 1,681, 000 a year ago and 1,429,000 at this time in 1894. The present Liver? pool stock includes 734,090 bales of American, against 788,000 a week ago, 1,454,000 at this time last year and 1,203,000 in 1894 This exhibit and the excellent cotton goods trade of Europe, as well as the continued dry weater in Texas, greatly encourages the bulls. It is not claimed that any very serious damage has yet been done in Texas, but it is maintained that if the drought continues until the 15th of Joly it will have become serious, as the time for making good the rainfall shortage will then be limited. Put up the Money. SAN FRANCISCO, Jnne 26.-James J. Corbett and Thomas Sharkey signed articles this afternoon for a finish fight, Marquis of Queensbury rules, for the championship of the world and a side bet of $10,000 a side, the contest to take place before the club offering the largest purse. Each deposited $2,500 with the tem? porary stakeholder. The articles stipulate that the fight shall occur in the TJuited States or Mexico within six months from date and neither contest? ant shall engage in any contest during the existence of agreement. The final stakeholder has not yet been named and the date upon which the referee shall be settled is also left blank. Sharkely will leave for the east in a few days, having received flattering offers for sparring exhibitions. Cor? bett will also start eastward shortly and do bis preliminary training, at Aebury Park. ? VENEZU EL A'S PEACEFUL COURSE. WASHINGTON. BALTIMORE, June 26.-Senator Gor? man will positively not go to Chicago for the national convention. He does not think that there is any chance at this late hour to stem the free silver tide, but believes that a free silver candidate will be nominated.
