There is a line by us unseen,

God's patience and His wrath.
To pass that limit is to die,

It does not quench the beaming eye,
Or pale the glow of health.
The conscience may bc still at ease,
? The spirit light and gay ;
That which is pleasing, still may please,
And care be thrust away.
Bet on that forehead God has set
Indelibly A mark,
Unseen by man ; for man as yet

How far may we go in sin ?

An answer from the skies is sent,

Seeing Jesus.
Occasionally the Christian timidly
entertains a wish that he contd have
seen Jesus in thc days of His earthly
ministry, ile almost envies thc twelve
disciples. Kc wishes he could have
looked into the face of the Saviour ;
could have beard him speak those
gracious words, the like of which no
other mau ever spake ; could hare seen
him sit and talk in thc IIO?TO of Martha
and Mary; could hav# witnessed his
tnighty works, making thc blind to see
trie deaf to hear, the lame to walk, thc
dead to live. But suppose sud; a wish
could be gratified. Whom would we
see ? It would bc thc Christ in thc days
?f Hisbuiuiliation. We would see One,
down whose cheeks often coursed the
tears of sorrow over thc sins of men
We would see Ono. suffering for our
iniquities, hunted like a wild least of
the forest by men who thirsted for His
blood, led by Ois country men to the
brow of the hill upon which their city
was built, that they might cast Him
down headlong. Wc would ^ee One,
who groaned in thc garden, and died on
the cross ; a man of sorrows, and
acquainted with grief.
N?w the assurance of the child of J
God is that he shall one day experience I
thc fruition of a hope incomparably \
superior to that which the eyes of mor- j
tat men have yet seen os earth. David ?
expresses the supreme hope of the
Christ ian wheu he says : *I shall behold
his face in righteousness.' And the
beloved disciple strengthens our faith,
end fills us with joy, when he says :

is to look on the ascended, triumphant j

the King; of kings, and Lord of lords, j
eternally enthroned at the right hand of j
the Father, with the sceptre of eternal ?
dominion in His hand. We shall sec
Jesus in Iiis eternal exaltation. Sure?

strengthen the Christian while passing
through tribulation on our way to enter
IBO kingdom of glory ! It is an exceed?
ing great and precious promise : *lf we
suffer, wc shall also reign with Him.'

The Christian whom nature gave a j

temper a mighty foe to conquer aud
difficult to hold in subjection. Plato
