He can learn his lessons well, but he is almost always at the bottom of his class, because he has put off learn? ing hts task from one hour to another until it is too late. He can walk or run as fast as any boy in town, but if he is sent on un errand tte errand never gets done in season, because he puts off starting from one moment to another; and for the same reason is almost al? ways late at school, because he can nev? er be made to see that it is drawing very near to uiue o'clock. If letters are given him to post, they seldom get in time for thc mail ; and if he-is to go away by the boat or train, the whole family have' to exert them? selves to hurry Peter out of the house, lest be defer startiug till the hour is past. He delays in his play as in his work. He pats off reading io the library book until it is time to send it back ; Ire waits to join the game until it is too late ; and generally comes up a little behindhand for everything all the week through, and then begins a new week by being too late for Church and Sabbath School Peter is quite conscious of hts own fault, and means to reform sometime, bat he pats off the date of the reform? ation so constantly that manhood and old age will probably overtake this boy, and find him still worthy cf thc name of Peter Putoff. Why He Was Never Late.. So after break? fast and prayers I have nothing to do but just go to school, and I start in sea son to get there before the superinten? dent rings the school to order.' 'And you don't lag by the way V 'Never ? said Edwin. *It is better to be five minutes too early ?kan one minute too late.' 4Ah, beys, see it helps one along to have a plan. Money Can't do lt. There are some things that money cannot nay. It can get you a big bouse, aud a carriage, and costly silks and furs, and jewels. It can bring you power, and power is sweet But it cannot buy you love ; it cannot buy yon a happy home ; it can? not bay content and sunshine in the heart. It cannot buy peace with God ; it cannot save your soul, nor that of your child. Without these, what is your rooney worth ? With these, what great difference does it make whether you have money or not? The regenera tion of a single child in your household is worth more than all the money you have got, be it ever so much.
