'Baby is dead V Three little words passing atong the telegraph liue, copied somewhere and soon forgotten. But after all was quiet again 1 leaned my head upon my hand and fell into a deep reverie of all that those words may mean. Somewhere-a dainty form, still and cold, unclasped by mother's arm to? night. Eyes that yesterday were bright sod blue as skies of Jane, drop? ped to-night beneath white lids that DO voice can ever raise again. Two soft hands, whose rose-leaf fingers were wont to wonder lovingly around mother's neck and face, loosely holding white bads, quietly folded io confined rest. Sot? lips, yesterday rippling with laughter, sweet as woodland brookfalls, gay as a t&rtH of forest bird ; to-night unresponsive, to kiss or call of love. A tiny mono?*, snow-covered in some quiet graveyard. A silent home-the patter of baby feet forever hushed-aeradle bed un? pressed. Little shoes half worn-dain? ty garments-shoulder knots of blue to match those eyes of yesterday, folded with aching heart and laid away, j A mother's groping touch, in unea? sy slumber, for the fair head that shall never rest upon ber bosom. The low sob the bitter tear, as broken dreams awake to sad reality. The hopes of future years wrecked, like fair ships that suddenly go down in sight of land. The watching of other babies, dim? pled, laughing, strong, and this, one gone ! The present agony of grief, the future emptiness of heart all held in those three li tl Ie words, 'Baby is dead V Indeed, it is well that we can copy and soon forget the words so frieghted with woe to those who receive and send them. And yet it can not barm ns now and then to give a tender thought to those for whom our careless pen stroke is preparing such weight of grief. - Telegraph Operator. Faith, like most other things, will grow by use. If a man has not much, let bim. exercise what be has, to gain more. 'Lord, I be? lieve ; help thou mine unbelief T No man has really got' religion, as the cant, prase runs, until it seriously affects the eye and ear. The religious eye has had all the greenness of jeal? ously and envy washed out of it, and the religious ear listens only to the good that is told of one's neigbors and io as deaf as an adder to what is bad. Its origin is within : its manifestations without. Hence, to cure the the disease the cause must be re? moved, ?nd in no other way can a cure ever be effected. WARNER'S SAFE KIDNEY AND LIVER CCRE is established on just this principle. It realizes that 95 Per Cent. of all diseases' arise from deranged kidneys and liver, and it strikes at once at the root of the difficulty. The elements of which it is composed act directly upon these great orga ns, both as a food and restorer, and, by placing them in a healthy condition, drive disease and pain from the system. For the innumerable troubles caused by un? healthy Kidneys, Liver and Urinary Organs; for the dist lessing Disorders of Women; for Malaria, and for physical derangements gen? erally, this great remedy has no equal. Kendall & Co., Gents:-I think it my duty to render you my thanks for ben* efits and profits which I have derived from, your invaluable and far fame of Spavin Cure. My cousin and I had a valuable stallion, worth $400 which had a very bad spavin and was pronounced by four eminent veterinary surgeons, beyond any cure, and that the horse was" done forever. As a last resort I ad? vised my cousin to try a bottle of Kendall'i Spavin Cure. It bad a magical effect, the third bottle cored it and the horse is ss well as ever. Dr. Dick of Edinburg, the eminent veterinary surgeon was an uncle of mine, and I take great interest in assisting his pro* fessioo. JAMES A. WILSON, Civil Engineer. KENDALL'S SPA7X2T CUBS. CHARLESTON , S. C., July 22, 1883. Dr. B. J Kendall & Co., Dear Sirs :-I pur* chased at Louisville, Ky., a very fine bred colt, and in shipping he got bis hock badly hurt on the outside of the joint which caused it to swell three or four times the natural size, which made him very lame. I tried a great many liniments which failed to benefit :he injured part. At last when disgusted, and ready to give up the colt as ruined, I happened to seeyoor advertisement of "Ken? dall's Blister and Spavin Cure," and thought I would grve it a trial, I first applied the "Blister" to the hock which by this time had become calloused, and to my surprise fonud it work like a charm. In twenty fonr hours the part that was hard became soft and the tameless began to leave. I then got some of "Kendall's Spavin Cure" and applied it ac accordiog to directions , which has made & perfect cure, and the colt is now as sound as any horse alive. 1 merely write this letter to you, as I think it a duty I owe to you, and also for the good of the public at large.
