FATAL ACCIDENT AT CADES. | i 3 Roland Floyd Dies of Injuries and j Ybunger Brother Hurt. j Roland Floyd, 29, and Leland Floyd, J a younger brother, drove their car J into fast train. No. 83, at a crossing at Cades, nine miles north of, < this place, Friday morning. Roland J < . Floyd was killed instantly while I.e- j j ^ land was only painfully injuried. He j was brought here on the train and t taken to the Kelley sanitarium, where \ an X-ray was made to determine the j! extent of his injuries. Roland Floyd j was married and is survived by his i wife and several children. 1 Frank E. Betty, of Three Rivers, Michigan, has set a record price for ^ strawberry plants. He paid Harry s Rockhill, of Conrad. Ia., $50,000 for - an everbearing plant which has tak- ^ en fourteen years to develop. The ] berries grown on this plant are gi- 3 gantic. All parties between the afes of 21 and 60 years, inclusive, are liable, unless exempted by law, to a poll tax of $1.00, also to a commutation tax of $2.00. Upon all unpaid taxes after December 31 a penalty of 1% will be added for January, 1% for February and 5% to the 15th day of March next, after which the books will be closed and executions issued upon all unpaid taxes. A tax of $1.25 on dogs, (which includes tag) due and collectable during month of January and must be paid not later than February 1. Those who desire to pay tfteir taxes through the mail may expidite matters by dropping the Treasurer a card asking for the amount of their taxes, so as to avoid sending the wrong amount, also stating the township or townships (if property is owned in more than one) and if possible give school district where property is located. After paying taxes, examine your receipts and see if all your property is covered, if not, see about it at once. By following the above suggestions complications and additional cost may be avoided.
