Dr. Hall, of Washington. Announces
Discovery.
Washington, June *?After extended
experiments Dr. Hall, of the
Department of Agriculture, announced
today he had discovered what he
believed to be a positive cure for
hookworm in a chemical known as
carbon tetra chloride. This chemical,
which is commonly used as a clothes
cleaner, the statement said, "will
likely prove to be a cheap, agreeable,
effective treatment for a parasite that
is destroying health and reducing human
efficiency in millions of people
in many parts of the world, including
many thousands in our Southern
states."
Discovery by Dr. Hall of the efficiency
of the drug in removing
hookworm parasites, it was stated,
immediately stimulated medical men
in many countries to start investigation
from which, the department said,
"favorable reports are now being received."
Department records are said to
show that 12,000 natives of the Fiji
Islands have been successfully treated
by the same method, a single
dozen removing all the parasites from
90 per cent of patients.

A TALK WITH A
KINGSTREE MAN
MR. LOUIS STACKLEY, POSTMAS- !
TER, OK 204 ACADEMY STREET,
TELLS OF HIS EXPERIENCE. I
There is nothing like a talk with
one of our own citizens fcr giving
l'ODe and encouragement to the anx
ious sufferer from the dread kidney
disease. We, therefore, give here an
interview with a Kingstree man:
"I was annoyed with kidney trouble
and it made me rather uncomfortable,"
says Mr. Stackley. "My
kidneys acted too freely and there
was a numb feeling across the small
of my back. Reading about Doan's
Kidney Pills and believing they would
help me I gave them a trial. In all
I took three boxes of Doan's and
my expectations were fulfilled. This
medicine was quite beneficial to me
and I gladly endorse it."
