Holliday, at Manning, was the scene of a quiet, but pretty wedding, when their eldest daughter. Miss Susan Emma, became the bride of Mr. S. C. Britton, of Salters, S. C. Only the relatives and a few friends i of the contracting parties were present.. The bride was becomingly attired in ' a traveling suit of mid-night blue trie' otine. 1 Shortly after the ceremony, Mr. and ' Mrs. Britton left by automobile, for their home at Salters. Mr. James Alexander Byrd, a well known farmer and citizen of Williamsburg county, a familiar figure in Kingstree, died at the Kelley sanitarium here early Saturday morning of paralysis. Mr. Byrd was in his 67th year ar.d .vas twice married. His first wife, svho was the mother of his children cvas Miss Edna Earl Lindsay, daughter of Capt. M. H. Lindsay, and grandlaughter of Col. J. 0. A. Wallace of Cabarrus county, Nouth Carolina. From this union were born nine :hildren, eight of whom survive Vm: Mrs. Bussye Gray and Mrs. M. F. Black of Barnwell. Mrs. Gertrude Bough of Columbia, Miss Jennie Byrd of Lamar, W. E. Byrd, R. S. Byrd, J. 0. Byrd and M. D. Byrd, all of svhom were with him at his death. His second marriage was to Miss Elizabeth McCrary, a well-known and highly esteemed woman of this county. Mr. Byrd was oom in uarungiun county. He was a consecrated Christian, known and loved by old and young. He did not fear death and spoke of it without hesitancy a few days ago when he was not feeling so well. Mr. Byrd was a member of the Kingstree Baptist church. Funeral services were held from the home Sunday and interment followed at the family burying ground. o Agents for Florence Steam Laundry.
