humorously true sometimes that the
wails of a city here, or in California,
or in France, might be cut upon a

found in this naive conclusion: It is
surprising how few accidents happen,
and the good humor of the people under
all these trying conditions is worthy
of our admiration and emulation."

William M. Wood,'-President of the
American Woolen Company, which
closed its plant after being indicted
for profiteering, says, that he believes
the mills will be reopened early in
September, for there are indications,
he said, of a renewed demand for
cloth. Mr. Wood said he believed the
wholesale price of clothing this fall
will drop. The clothing bought at
wholesale at that season of the year
is for the retail trade of the following
spring. But the lower wholesale
prices will be brought about, he intimated,
by other factors than a decrease
in the cost of woolen cloth.
