According to the itineraries adopted for the candidates for state and federal offices, Kingstree will have the state officers within her gates on Thursday, July 22. Candidates for the United States Senate and House will meet here on Monday, August 23. Both campaigns.will close on August 27. ? * * A big fuss is being made in some places over the price of sugar?22 cents the pound, In Kingstree it is sold right along at 30 cents the pound and no fuss is heard about the price. M. o To Keep Lime Unslaked We often wish to keep some unslaked lime on hand for fruit spraying mixture, etc. It is usually a rather hard job to find a container which will not allow the lime to become airslaked. However, the empty carbide cans, in which the fuel for our acetylene gas plant came, solved the problem. Theses cans, which have snug-fitting tops, will keep the lime perfectly for a year or more. Empty carbide cans have a way of piling upon a place where there is a gas plant and folks usually dispose of them rather cheaply. But anyway, be its price cheay or dear, the carbide can will prove its worth when it comes to keeping unslaked lime.? Mrs. T. E. Lide, Jr., in The Progressive Farmer. w o To Be Married. Some of the leading citizens of Florence, Marion, Georgetown, Conway and Williamsburg counties met in Florence Monday night in the interest of the South Carolina Development Board, an organization which has the endorsement of the leading men of the state. The group of five counties mentioned form a district organization of which J. W. McCown is Chairman. The district committe is composed of F. L. Wilcox, o. M. Lynch, Florence; F. M. Brickman, Georegtown; E. C. Epps, Kingstree; n<. I). W. Spivey, of Conway. Present at the meeting Monday night from Kingstree were Messrs. E. C. Epps, A. C. Hinds and County Agent Cathcart. A banquet was preI ared for the1 gathering and the speakers of the evening were Ex-Governor R. I. Manning and Gen. J. C. R. Foster. Allen, of Kansas, who has himself been mentioned as a presidential possibility, has consented to place the name of Major General Leonard Wood before the Republican National Convention in Chicago next week for nomination for the presidency of the United States.
