I P Dr. Clarke Hedley, veterinary in1 spector of the U. S. Duieau of Ani mal Industry and assistant State vetB erinarian of South Carolina, was in m __ a few days ago and asked that we inform the public through our columns, 4 for their benefit, that while cattle are ^ not being dipped regularly in all secgj tions of Williamsburg county, yet all j the cattle are under State quarintine owing to the free range conditions B that prevail to a greater or less ex tent. The dipping of cattle is being conj? ducted at vats where it is known J that a few ticks remain, and it is ? hoped that the cattle owners will con? tinue to cooperate with the State and I Federal officials in such sections by seeing that all of their cattle are dfpped regularly, and in this way completely wipe out the ticks this summer. In order to prevent ticks being carried from ttfe ticky sections of this county to the free sections of this and other couiities, it is necessary that the same restrictions be Ijiiifuacru <xi iu uic oamc mjuiitnaiu.j be met as in the past, i. e. The cattle must inspected by a duly authorized cattle inspector and a permit obtained from him before the cattle can be removed legally within the county or from this county to anI other. There seems to be more or less misunderstanding among the cattle owners concerning the proper movement of cattle, and Dr. Hedley is very anxious that everyone undeistand the requirements. The cattle inspectors in this county who are authorized to issue permits for the movement of cattle are Mr. J. E. Gillis of Kingstree, and Dr. |ig C. Hedley of Conway, S. C. Either of _ these gentlemen will gladly assist any~ one who desires to move cattle.
