Arrowsmith, was badly hurt by jumping 1 on an old spike while playing with some children, the spike piercing his intestines. Rural graded school aid to the 40 counties was paid to 913 schools on March 16 and 17, warrants being forwarded by J. E. Swearingen, state superintendent of education, to each of the several county treasurers, and duplicate copies furnished the respec- , tive county auditors for their records. ! The total disbursement amounted to $249,900. The amount received by Williamsburg county was $7,600. Gamble Heinemann, was the scene of an unusally beautiful marriage yesterday afternoon when Miss Gertrude Gamble, niece of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Gamble became the wife of Mr. S. F. Brockinton. The bride is a daughter of the late Dr. Wayne Gamble, is a most charm ing young lady with a host of friends \ throughout the State. The groom is a prosperous young farmer of the Cedar Swamp section, ; and is very popular among a large : circle of friends. The ceremony was performed by ] the Rev. E. H. Grier, of Mayesville, after which the happy couple left for Lane, where they entrained for a . honeymoon trip. Columbia, March 23.?Calling into question the constitutionally of the act providing for the construction of a bridge across the Santee river, connecting Williamsburg and Berkeley counties, Lee Royal, Esq., an attorney of Charleston, representing himself and client taxpayers, in a ietter to Governor Cooper requests the executive to veto the measure. Gove^rnor Cooper, in his answer, states that although there might be some question as to the constitutionality of the act, he cannot veto it. The governor took the position that the deciding of the constituionality of a legislative act was with the judicial and not the executive bj-anch of the State government, and that whether the bridge should be built, he would leave with the Charleston, Berkeley and Williamsburg delegations, which introduced the measure in the house. i STRAYED CATTLE"TAKEN UP?
