J ! * When speaking of Johnsonville we t do not refer simply to a longitude and latitude provided by nature as a necessary spot or community only to hold our portion of mother earth to geiner as a section 01 ner run, uui. would remember that while some natural sections of country appears as only upon the surface, yet Johnsonville has for many years enjoyed depth and breadth, so wisely appropriated by her ancestry in communitylife, that Providence has now bid her God speed. Many of us for a long while failed to see the refining process going on when we were as one people wandering in a distant land thirty miles from everywhere, ^while commercial attraction seemed to concentrate upon other sections of country, yet, through patience and perseverance we are now more thankful that so ! many of her prosterity have not only | discovered the dawn of this new day, but are now baskine in her sunlight, ^ and living amidst the bloom of her | roses, which permiates our very at-j mo6phere with their timely developed fragrance upon both spiritual and j commercial world. I say world because we are no longer in the back ground for lack of transportation and something to transport as well. Come with me and for yourself see our happy small and large farmers, how they make fine tobacco, cotton, corn, potatoes, peas, beans, sorghum for stock and sugar cane for both sugar and syrup and many other crops, thus living at home and boarding at the same place. Cheap lands are a thing of the past here except cheap in value. Of course, all values depend for their stated worth upon conditions which are conducive to first health and happiness, and we think while nature has provided the health, for which we thank her from our heart*, we also remember again to thank our anfcestry for that degree ^ of happiress which comes to us by ' having tx'en taught to give hearty l anSMp 8 DR R. Our school here leads the way from mountain to seaboard, many years: ago being the first to request privi-. lege from the state to vote more school tax upon us that the law then allowed, and we expect to maintain 1 this prestige by collosal donations : next to good roads, as well as 1 churches, and not only enjoy the influence of churches roads and school, i but last and not lease, enjoy the concientious fact that we are living part- 1 ly for others. V] We have set our hearts on doing ' our part to make Johnsonville the : happiest and most thrifty place on ' earth; destined to become the logical 1 metropolis of the blest Seaboard sec- 1 tion of our State. Two prosperous banks, two drug stores neatly furnished, and twelve other stores all brick structures except four, 1 besides a commodious brick school 1 building of modern style well equipped. ^ ! We have two modern churches, Baptist and Methodist, both hand- : somely equipped with parsonage for each, besides a number of beautiful homes now under construction and others being built continuously. Our transportation is good having four regular passenger trains two of which take express. It would surprise any skeptic to hear the hum of gins, buzz of mill saws with an alarming frequency, of the ringing bells and sounding whistles of through locomotives besides local freights. When you feel like coming to see us remember, while we do not give receptions, we offer you something better, viz: A hearty welcome, and pass the account to Christian benovolence whose coffers are never empty for the reason that we have a healthy, strong, gigantic and blended band of united forces in both churches at this place which makes you feel at home, especially so when you worship with us though your denomination may be any other on earth. We have service every Sunday, live Sunday schools, regular prayer meetings on Wednesday evenings besides other appointments. We know that "spirit" created Johnsonville and trust in it to maintain us, and by it we are willing to be judged worthy of acceptation as a logical place for any domestic investment for business development. requsite to build this great natural location. Our forest abound in resources of hard and soft timbers together with good grasses for summer pastures awaiting the breath of the sheep to make the sheep grass grow.
