McDowell was in St. Stephens Monday. Dr. S. L. Gilliland spent last week end in Charleston. Mr. A. L. McElveen spent last .veek end in Charleston. Taylor last week end. Mr. J. P. Adams has sold his farm j near Kingstree to J. M. Martin and L. Roy Cates. Kingstree needs a hotel now, but the need will be greater after January 1, 1920. Dr. Daniel, preached his first sermon at the Methodist church here last Sunday. Rev. and Mrs. E. A. McDowell will celebrate their silver wedding on December 26, 1919. Mrs. A. C. Hinds went to Florence Tuesday evening where she spent the night with relatives. Mrs. Ira Calhoun and Mrs. W. W. Holliday spent Wednesday with I friends in ..Florence. Mr. D. J. Scott Coker of Cades, Williamsburg, county, has been serving on the Unit-! I ed States steamship Fred J. Talbert.' The Fred J. Talbert is a destroyer that has just returned from a cruise j in the Mediterranean and Adriatic.. Coker was promoted from fireman, first class, to water tender. The Kingstree Electrical Supply; Co., R. M. Hare, manager, expects to occupy the first floor of the Gourdin building under The Record office after January 1. This firm is filling a great place in the economic needs of the community by being located here, j while there is so much building in, pi-ogress in the way of wiring and, fitting up new and old homes and business houses for electric current. Kellahan, of this place were married at the home of the brides parents at 4 o'clock p. m., December 17th. The groom was accompanied here by his father, W. H. Smelser, and his friend Mr. S. T. Goodwin. The party returned to Norfolk last night, accompanied by Miss Rosa Kellahan and her brother, who will attend the reception today at the home of Mr. W. H. Smelser. o Pastor Pounded Members of the Kingstree Baptist congregation gave their pastor the Rev. E. A. McDowell, and his good wife, a severe pounding at their home in the parsonage here last night.
