Get your exhibits ready for the big county fair which opens Tuesday, November 1U, for four days. It is to the interest of every farm* er in the county to put on exhibition a sample of everything he can pro duce on his farm, thereby letting your neighbor and the outside world know what you can do here in your home county. Attend to this important matter at once and be ready to enter your exhibits, of whatever nature, not later than Monday, November 12. Mr A V Snell was the enthusiastic speaker here last Friday in the interest of the food conservation movement. His address was ably delivered and highly interesting, and the fact that so few of our citizens were present to hear him is indeed lamentable. However, there were present enough enterprising mpn to take un the work outlined both in the food movement and the J sale of liberty bonds, and ever since the meeting a few of our enterprising citizens, men and women, have been pushing the work vigorously and in conformity with the plans of the national government. A "meatless and wheatless day" each week should be the slogan of every family until the war is ended and Prusianism is a thing of the past in the governmental system of the world. Some time ago the A J Kirstin Co of Escanaba, Mich, advertised a stump puller in The Record. At | the time we wrote them to the effect that there were plenty of stumps in this county that needed pulling and that if they would send a man here wun one 01 ine:i mat-nines, vwiu could demonstrate i: to farmers and land owners of tr.e county that, in our belief, the advertising would be effective of good results, provided the machine would do what was claimed for it. We have a letter today from the Kirstin Co. also an advertisement which appears in this | paper, telling us that they are send- j ing a man into this territory to dem-! onstrate their stump pulling ma-i chine and requesting our co-oper-i ation in the matter. We are only i too glad to be of any service we can! along this lint*, for on every hand we are confronted with fertile fields t.'iat could l?e greatly improved by weeding out the numerous stumps tr.at obstruct proper and more profitable cultivation. Mr Williams, who is to demonstrate the machine, will be here on some date to be announced later and the Kirstin Co is desirous of securing for him a stump infested field for his demonstration. The editor of The Record will be glad to hear from any farmer in the county who can provide a good field for the coming: demonstration. i SOUTH CAROLINA TOBACCO.
