Mr Hester tells us that the markets closed with prices ranging higher than ever before known. Already he has been over sections of Williamsburg county and spenks most encouragingly of the crcp prospects in this community. H feels sure that tobacco will sell high on the local market the coming season. A hail storm passed over the North edge of town Tuesday,in which pieces of ice as large or larger than hen's eggs came down with considerable force for about five minutes. A colored farmer residing about three miles North of town brought to our office just after the storm s few of the hail-stones that had fallen on his place. Some of these ice-balls were still as large as golf balls. The storm, fortunately, did not extend over a very large area, and did no1 reach South of Church street in the town.< Several' crops to the North ol town are reported to have been badly damaged.
