It is gratifying to note that th tendency of the people of this sec tion is setting more strongly to general education of their children Some counties, unable to solve th educational*problem in any othe way, have passed compulsory schoc laws, and in some localities thes are being enforced. Needless to sa that where such is the case the ri suits are most gratifying. Still there are sections of ou State where this is not the casemany sections where ignorance i still at a premium. This shoul not be. No child should ever b permitted to reach maturity withou being given the ground work of liberal education. There can l>e n greater menace to the safety of th State and the Nation than that c ignorance. It is the father of crim ami the mother of treason. Of late the press of the countr, has l?een overloaded with argumen for national preparedness.
