SUNDAY-SCHOOL RALLY DAY. Enthusiastic Meeting Held Here Sunday in Presbyterian Church. The Williamsburp County Sunday-school association held "rally Pay" ex-rcises at the Presbyterian church here Sunday morning and afternoon, with an audience estimated at 500 people. The sessions were held at 11a. m. and 3 p. m. The de votional exercises were conducted by the Dastor of the church, Rev P S McChesney, and an inspiring programme was carried out at each session. The object of the meeting, as stated by the county secretary and treasurer, M A Shuler, Esq. was to take an inventory of the work accomplished throughout the county by the various Sunday-schools towards reaching the Gold Star standard. There are sixty Sunday-schools in this county, which is divided into seven districts, and each of these schools was represented either in person or through its district officers. and it was the opinion of the oftirmra anrt Holooaios nrpsent that 1IWC1 O HUM vivivev..Vw r. Williamsburg: will qualify as a Gold Star county before the meeting of the next State convention. An interesting address was delivered at the morning session by S Oliver O'Bryan, Esq, of Manning, his subject being "The Gold Star Essentials". This gentleman is a former Williamsburg citizen,a sen of Mr W M O'Bryan of Heinemann. His adopted county, Clarendon, had the honor of being one of the two Gold Star counties at the last State convention. In the * absence of Mr 0 M Mitchell, Rev P S McChesney delivered'a forcible address on "Why the Organization?" showing the advantage of bringing together members of all churches, that each might receive new ideas and fresh inspiration. Miss Agnes Ravenel appointed Misses Serena Lee, Rosa Wilkins, Madge Blakely and Janie Gamble to solicit subscriptions to The Promoter, the official organ of the State association. At the afternoon session Rev A E * " *? - l Kiemer,pa3ior 01 me oapust cnurcu, spoke forcibly'on "The Necessity of Prayer in the Teacher's Life". Hon Charlton DuRant of Manning made a comprehensive address on "The Organized Bible Class". He is well qualified to speak on this subject, being teacher of the largest Bible class in the State. Miss Rayenel made an inspiring talk on building up the Sunday-scl.ool through the forward step plan. The committee on Promoter subscriptions reported having secured sixty subscribers, which Miss Ravenel said is the largest number obtained at any one place. The county convention will be held in Kingstree Baptist church Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, 1917.
