generous to Kingstree this week, j
having made three visits, each time '
leaving an addition to the town's
population by presenting it with a
boy baby. This old bird's last call, 1

of this bouncing Kingstreean are
Mr and Mrs J Percy Hutson.

paying for it and had the postm aster
mark it 'refused,' but we are
after him, and when caught he will

The fall session of Kintrstree Hi?

morning: under higrhly favorable cor

which a fuil corps was present, wa
held at the school building Saturday
when a programme for the open:nj
dav was arranged.
The exercises incident to the open
ing of the 1916-17 session took plac<
in the auditorium at 9 o'clock an<
were attended by a large represent
ation of parents and others inter
ested in the welfare of the institu
tion. The enrollment of pupils in al
grades numbered 211, an increase
over previous years on the opening
day.
The exercises, presided over b)
by Superintendent Swittenberg, con
sisted of vocal and instrumental mu
?ic,and short addresses by the clerg\
if the town.
Rev I' S MeChesney read a selec
tion from the seventh chapter of Si
Matthew, followed bv a fervenl

Ler the singing of a hymn, spoke interestingly
to the pupils anil teach
?rs. Kev J B Wilson s remarks were
iddressed chiefly to parents. Mr J

Mr Swittenberg was pleased to

and gave a cordial invitation to

;ime. while he urged the latter to
ittend school regularly and stressed
;he importance of punctuality.
At the close of the exercises in the

:hough only those things which are

mentioned in these ads.
We have been through their big
stores, however, and we know they
lave the goods ?not only for our
vives, daughters and sweethearts,
3Ut the "mere men," as well, and
:hese goods are up-to-date, too, with
trices, the most important factor in
)ur buying, astonishingly low comjared
with the prices quoted in the
ldvertisements carried by the big
rity new spapers. It may be renembered
that our merchants do
lot have to pay the heavy expenses
;hat the big city fellows do, which
;hey add to the selling cost of their
foods.
