Case under Bankruptcy Statute.
Judge H A M Smith,in the United
Statesdistrict court, hashanded down
a decree and order in the case of H
M Ayer, trustee of the McLendonCole
company,bankrupts, against the
First National Hank of Olanta,which
will probably be a precedent in such
cases hereafter. It was a case in
which the trustee held that the bank
had reasonable knowledge of the
condition of the aforesaid bankrupt
company and accepted payment of
notes in violation of the federal statute
of bankraptcy. The case was

Special Referee R J Kirk and reviewed
by Judge Smith,both of thew
upholding the contention of thejtrustee.
An order was issued requiring the
payment of the sum claimed,$3,00?,
within twenty days.
There was a great deal of interest
felt in the case from its start. It is
a matter that may arise in the s?ttlament
of any bankrupt ease.
