It was Memorial day,and 1 there were forty or fifty old veterans here to glorify the achievements 1 and condole the misfortunes they I had met with in a cause they all believed to be just and right. VeterI ans were present from Williamsburg, Berkeley, Clarendon and Flor 1 ence counties, who were members of j " Pressley's brigade during the war. ; The occasion also marked the annual meeting of the Camp Pressley veterans. This meeting wdfe held in the court house in the forenoon,just prior to the opening of public services in the Thomas opera house at 1 12:30 p. m.. when a highly interest5 ing programme was carried out under the auspices of the U D C's, as' sisted by the faculty of Kiugstree ' High and Graded school. The chief features of the programme were the 1 presentation of a picture of Jefferr son Davis, President of the Confederate States, by the U D C's to the I Kingstrec High school, and the ad5 dress by Prof Yates Snowden of the University of South Carolina.
