j Yesterday, May 10, marked a hap-j
{ py occasion in Kingstree for the few j
* Williamsburg survivors of the Con- j
J federate army, souvenirs of a lostj
' ! cause, men who followed the flag in j
the early 60's,which meant hardship '
and strife. It was Memorial day,and
1 there were forty or fifty old veterans
here to glorify the achievements
1 and condole the misfortunes they
I had met with in a cause they all believed
to be just and right. VeterI
ans were present from Williamsburg,
Berkeley, Clarendon and Flor
1 ence counties, who were members of j
" Pressley's brigade during the war.
; The occasion also marked the annual
meeting of the Camp Pressley
veterans. This meeting wdfe held in
the court house in the forenoon,just
prior to the opening of public services
in the Thomas opera house at
1 12:30 p. m.. when a highly interest5
ing programme was carried out under
the auspices of the U D C's, as'
sisted by the faculty of Kiugstree
' High and Graded school. The chief
features of the programme were the
1 presentation of a picture of Jefferr
son Davis, President of the Confederate
States, by the U D C's to the
I Kingstrec High school, and the ad5
dress by Prof Yates Snowden of the
University of South Carolina.

The singing of war songs by the
school children was highly enjoyed
by the veterans. The exercises were
opened with prayer by Rev P S

school. The prize was awarded by

' President Davis' picture to the school
was made by Miss Maude Logan and
i accepted on the part of the school

Hugh McCutchen stating that Mr
James C Dobbin died at his home in
that city, where he was connected
with the Metropolitan Life Insurance
I company. Mr Dobbin is well known
in this community, and frequently
. visited his sister here, Mrs Hugh
, McCutchen. Messrs Hugh and Thos
r McCutchen left for St Louis yester,

the seven-reel Selig Red Seal Play,
"The Rosary," for Tuesday, May 16,
and Manager Crawford is certain
that this will be one of the biggest
successes thus far shown at this well
known house. The story tells how
Father Kelly, visiting the young
broker, whom he has reared as his
own son because in the distant past
he loved his mother, sees the dawn
of a domestic tragedy when the
broker suspects his wife of being
untrue to him. The wife seeks to

position and this leads the husband
to believe her guilty of the unforgivable
sin. The near tragedy which
results is told in a most convincing
wav in the film. In the end Father
Kelly's life is brightened by a reconciliation
