News Items of Interest Gathered

! Rhems, April 25:?Last Thursday
night a stranger visited the home of
Mr and Mrs A B Edwards and demanded
board and lodging. "It's a
boy." Mother and babe getting on
nicely.
Mrs J F Wheeler of Andrews is
spending some with her daughter,
Mrs A B Edwards.
Mr G G Broadway is the proud
owner of a Ford. Mr D D Rhem has
also recently treated himself to a
new model Ford.
Mr G E Grier spent Sunday at
Conway.
Mr F Rhem, who has been undergoing
treatment at the Riverside infirmary,
Charleston, returned home
Monday very much improved,we are
glad to mention.
Mr Lamar Johnson of Bethune
spent the week-end with relatives
and friends here.
Misses Margaret Keels, Laura and
Mary Rhem went to Hemingway
Saturday to do some shopping.
Mr and Mrs G B Eaddy, son,Winston,
and daughter, Lucy, accompanied
by Mr Wade H Baxlev. visited
the home of the former's son-in-law
and daughter,Mr and Mrs Lawrence
Creels, at Boston recently.
Farmers in this section are busy
transplanting the "golden weed."
Spring.
Spring is looked upon by many as
the most delightful season of the

this section are busy planting: their

needed.
Lenud school closed March 31 and
the old and young folk went out to (
hear the children recite their pieces
and sing their songs. The teachers
gave them good advice on how to
better the school. All seemed sorry
to see the school close and Mr James
Easterling, the teacher, take his departure.
We hope to have him for
another term. Misses Minnie Gordon
and Stella Lamb made all welcome
to the school by pinning a bouquet
on each one as he entered the
door.
The Sunday-school at Old Gourdins
chapel is growing and getting
| on nicely. Everyone is wearing a
blue pin and hoping to wear a gold
| one later for perfect attendance.
Ye scribe thinks wedding bells
! will ring in this part of Williamsburg
before the days are many, but not
: yet for blue Bell.
