Indlaatown Items. Indianiown, April 24:--The drought that has prevailed here for many \ weeks has delayed farm work in no small measure, as the rooting of tobacco plahts is a proposition. Quite a number of our people saw that wonderful photo-play, "The Birth of a Natson" at Florence and Darlington week before last. ~ ? . 1 I i I ? c I Some 01 tne nign scnooi uuya ui the Indiantown school presented an amusing play on the evening of April 14 to a large audience at the auditorium. Ice cream and cake were served after the play. The proceeds amounted to $35.00, which, we understand, will go towards buying baseball goods for the team here. Mrs W D Owens of Sumter has been visiting relatives here. Mr'and Mrs Willie James of Cheraw are guests of relatives here. Miss Mattie Brown delightfully entertained the younger set at a party Friday evening. Delicious refreshments were served at the close of the evening's fun. Some of our people attended the special Easter song service at Union Methodist church Sunday evening. The Indiantown Sunday-school elected seven delegates to attend the great Sunday-school convention which convenes in Charleston the first week in May. Those elected are Mesdames H M Cooper, D E McCutchen, W W Barr; Miss Mutie Cooper; Messrs R W Stuckey, R H Ervin and C P Snowden. The pastor, Rev W R Pritchett and Super' intendent D E McCntchen are also expected to attend, and it is hoped that greater inspiration will be brought into our already wideawake Sunday-school by those who can go. The regular spring communion service will be held at the church on the first Sunday in May,and on Saturday afternoon, May 6, at 4 o'clock, the preliminary sermon will be preached. Red Wing. Yesterday afternoon a mad dog bit a negro child and several dogs. The head of the brute was sent to Gofombia for examination.
