In Local Political Circles. Politics in this county has not taken on a very lively aspect as yet. ' although considerable enthusiasm is being developed over the Sheriff's office. There will be eight or nine candidates in the race for this office I this summer unless a number of the aspiranrs change their minds and withdraw before the primary. So j far tfce five most active candidates j are Wilkius, H U Kinder, W E: BrocRington, J Y McGill and J H, Epps. It is not generally known ] whether the incumbent. Sheriff George J Graham, will run for the . office this summer. He has been Sheriff of Williamsburg county for about fifteen years. The names of several candidates have been mentioned in connection with the Treasurer's office, and it is more than likely that there will be seyeral candidates in the field to op,t pose the incumbent, J Wesley Cook. As to the other county offices, Clerk - ~ ,*#r? O 1 . 01 LOUri, Auaitor, oupenuitruunn of Education, Probate Judge and County Supervisor, so far as can be learned-, no one has expressed a determinatityi to enter the race up to . this time. It is rumored that Solicitor Philip j H Stoll, of the 3rd circuit, will have l opposition in L E Wood, Esq, of Sumter, court stenographer of this circuit. ^ Regvlar Meeting oi Council. The town council held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night. Mayor Scott and the following aldermen were present: Tolley, Mcintosh, "McGill and Miller. 'A. number of matters of importance was brought before the body for consideration. Among them was a petition signed by a number of Kingstree citizens asking that the ordinance against the obstruction of streets and sidewalks be amended so as to allow skating on certain side walks. LeRoy Lee, Esq, appeared before the Mayor and council :n behalf of the petitioners.
