Suffragists Appeal for Aid. g
To the Suffragists of Williamsburg:!
County: ?
Kqual suffrage resolutions and;
amendments will be strongly presented
at the coming session of Con- j
gress. South Carolina represent- j
atives have heretofore either opposed
the measure or been indif- j
ferent, because, sentiment in this;
State has not warranted active sup-;
port. j
However.the time has come when
it is necessary to advise our United
States Senators and Congressmen as
to the strength of the movement in
Pornlina in order that they

may truly represent us in Congress.
At the annual meeting of the South
Carolina Equal Suffrage League in
Columbia recently a resolution to
petition our Congressmen was unanimously
passed, and plans for giving
every suffragist in the State an op-j
portunity to take part in this peti- \
tion were made.
The following are the resolutions | j
to be presented to our representatives
in Congress, and you are invited
to sign and mail to the chairman
of the Congressional committee
at once. Men as well as women are
urged to co-operate with us by signing
since a representative list is
desired. Address
Mrs M T Coleman.
Ch'm'n Cong Com.
Whereas, the South Carolina Equal
Suffrage League, an organize tion of j,
1,400 members, desires to cooperate i
with the National American Woman
Suffrage association, through its
Congressional committee, for the
purpose of securing the passage by
Congress of the Susan B Anthony
amendment to the United States
Constitution, granting suffrage to
women upon the same terms as
men; and
Whereas, Reiterating the long
established principle of nonpartisanship
on the part of the National
American Woman Suffrage association,
with which our organization is
affiliated, we ask for the support of
all political parties in our efforts to
secure the passage of this amendment
in Congress and its ratification
by the State Legislatures; and
Whereas, All of the National political
parties except two have already
declared their support of the
principle of woman suffrage; therefore
be it
Resolved. That we hereby request
the Hon B R Tillman and the Hon E
D Smith, United States Senators
from this State, and the Hon J W
Ragsdale, representative in Congress
from the 6th Congressional
District of this State, to vote * j:
the amendment and to use their |
fullest influence in its favor; and
Resolved further, That we hereby
request the two political parties
that have not declared in favor of
woman suffrage?the Democratic
and Republican parties?to include
in their State and National plat- ,
forms a declaration in favor of
woman suffrage, and a promise to
support legislation to that end.
Accidentally Killed by Train.
' The Florence Times of Saturday
says: "A negro whose name could
not be learned was picked up by a
Coast Line train at Brockington
Thursday in an unconscious condition
and was brought to Florence.
He was given medical attention but
death resulted yesterday morning.
Coroner Gunn held the inquest and it
was determined that the negro was !
struck by a train which caused his
death. The Coroner endeavored to
find out who the dead man was, but
found no one who knew him. He was
buried here yesterday."
A FAIR WARNING.
Oae That Should Be Heeded by
Klogstree Residents.
Frequently the first sign of kidney
trouble is a slight ache or pain
in the loins. Neglect of this warning
makes the way easy for more
serious troubles?dropsy, gravel,
Bright's disease. 'Tis well to pay
attention to the first sign. Weak
kidneys generally grow weaker and
delay is often dangerous. Residents
of this locality place reliance in
Doan's Kidney Pills. This tested
remedy has been used in kidney
trouble over 50 years?is recommended
all over the civilized world.
Read the following:
W G Graham, 116 Fountain St,
Darlington, S C, says: "My kidneys
gave me a lot of trouble, causing
dull pains in the small of my back.
In the morning my back was so sore
and lame that I could hardly keep
going. I had dizzy spells and the
kidney secretions passed irregularly.
Colds often settled on my kidneys,
making my condition worse. I tried
different medicines, but with no success
until I used Doan's Kidney Pills.
Three boxes cured me."
