News from Near Bryan. (Written for last week's issue). Bryan, February9:?The hot supper given Friday night at Mr B A Brown's for the benefit of the Bennett school was a great success, although the had weather prevented a great many from attending. Miss Hallie Reid spent the last week-end at Kingstree, the guest of Mrs Hugh McCutchen. Mi9s Minnie Bryan of Trio was at Rrvan for a few davslast week visit The war and bad weather combined have left the people of this community with long faces. Perhaps it would cheer them up a great deal if they could travel around a little, but this is impossible, as they cannot pass these awful branches and mudholes. Won't Mr Road Engineer please help them out? A visit from him would be greatly appreciated. Cades, February 15:?The Spring Bank Tomato cluo held its first meeting Friday last. ' As this is the first year Spring Bank has had a club of ^ its own, the purpose of this meeting was to elect officers, who are as follows: President, Miss Wista McElveen; vice president. Miss Aleida Kennedy; secretary,Miss Bessie Williamson. We have a club of eleven very enthusiastic members. All are working to make this club among the best in the county. Deatb of Mrs. Louisa Snipes. g&? % Mrs Louisa Snipes, relict of the late A J Snipes,died suddenly at her home near Kingstree Friday night of last week from heart failure. She was 61 years of age and leaves six children, as follows: Mrs Lilly M Johnson,Conway; Miss Ella B Snipes, Marion; Messrs W E Snipes. Edwin A Snipes, Miss Annie B Snipes and Mrs Lula D McClary, Kingstree. The remains were taken to Marion ? Sunday morning and interment made in Olivet cemetery.
