A < very interesting ball game took place i at Choppee Saturday last with the Hemingway boys. After the first game was played in the morning, the score being 4 to 3 in favor of Hemingway, the young ladies prepared dinner for us in & shady grove of elm trees. The table was set with china and silverware and furnished with abundance of dainty and palatable viands. The science of cooking is properly classed among the fine arts, and certainly it is by no means least among them, for, as a man is inevitably what he eats, so the characteristics of the cooking presented to his palate are almost invariably reproduced in his life and works. After dinner, at 3:30 o'clock, the Hemingway and Choppee boys had the second game, the score being 12 to 3 in favor of Choppee. The hosts < had plenty of lemonade and ice-wa- \ ter at the ball grounds, and the day was much enjoyed by all present, | Johnsonvllle High School. i This school will open Monday, , September 22. NATIONAL BANK PROPOSED. Directors ol Bank of Williamsburg Consider Important Change At a recent meeting of the board of directors of the Bank of Williamsburg resolutions were passed proposing important changes in the institution, the most important of which is the converting of the present State bank into a National bank and doubling the capital stock. Mr E C Epps, the pioneer bank cashier of Williamsburg county, when asked by The Record man concerning the proposed "old new bank", handed us a copy of the resolutions passed by the board of directors. "This change," said Mr Epps, "is the result of deliberation md is based upon sound business principles, which the progressive condition of our community incites, [t is an opportunity that is bound to please our old shareholders, and at :he same time accommodate others i ind enlarge the bank's usefulness n the upbuilding of Williamsburg 1 county. "n# winrsc atnr?lthnlHorfl will have to confirm the action of the 1 directors, and a meeting will be ( called for this purpose early in Oc- : tober." Mr Epps also stated that it is probable that a stock dividend will be declared and paid to the present shareholders of the bank, after which a sufficient amount of stock will be offered to the public to make up the total of the proposed increase in the capital stock. "The bank's splendid increase in business since the harvest season opened and the opportunities that are before us," said Mr Epps, "fully justify the proposed change, especi kaatile pany , FARMERS! unloaded a car of i Rakes,Pony Steel on King and Disc ' Grist Mills and Y Presses, etc. late investing in nery in the near i of machinery in ly you to get our before you buy. iNTILE COMPANY, , s. c. jstree Cott< here.
