Si.000 REWAku (OR CORE. I Kansas Governor Oilers it to One Who Can Stop Epidemic. A reward of $1,000 is awaiting the man who, within 30 days, may discover a cure for a disease that is! causing death to thousands of horses in Kansas. It has been offered by j Governor Stubbs. The death of 10.00o horses in the western two-thirds of Kansas is causing much distress among the farmers. Hundreds of them have lost every horse on their farms, and are unable to prepare the fields for the new crop ol wneat. After a dozen or more expert veterinarians had talked for three hours at a conference here it was admitted that the nature of the disease was a mystery and that any treatment that might be given was largely an experiment. The palisade worm was blamed by some of the veterinarians because it has been found in great numbers in an autopsy made. Others, however declared that the worm had frequently been found in horses that had died of other diseases. Reports show that the malady is spreading, and that an average of 200 new cases are appearing each day. Items From Scranton.
