After our day at Kingstree we all spoke at Greelyviile on Thursday, the loth. We had a fine time. We spoke from the front porch of Mr Boykins* home, and the crowd gathered in the front yard in a beautiful grove. We had a most attentive hearing accorded us all by the Greelyviile people. A better and more hospitable populace has never 1- 1 J>~ 4-U TU? When we got to Lanes our train had left and was about 75 yards ahead of us. We had j to spend the night at Lanes. We' went to Trio Friday morning on the G & W railroad. We met a large crowd, all in good humor. Homes1 were provided for all candidates and all were well cared for. Unfortunately some little disturbance hap-' pened at the speaking, but nearly all the candidates had their say before j this occurrence. , Next Tuesday we shall all be at Morrisville, where some of the best people of our county live. I love to visit the dear spot. I have some good friends and kindred living at this place, and I am made to feel at home there. We can only hope for cooler weather for this week's work. It is a pleasure to meet the good people of our old county. On Wednesday we shall visit Johnsonville and speak there. On Friday we shall be at Hebron. This section of the county I have never visited, but it is my luck to know some of those people, and I know they are as good as the Supreme Being ever dotted mother earth with. Reasons why Should be Change In Congressional Representation We notice that JnoC Mace, Editor of the Marion Star,is now appealing to the voters of Marion to vote for Mr Ellerbe for the reason that Mr 1 Ragsdale is from Florence and that Florence now has a number of officers.naming them. He does not mention the fact that when Marion's son, the late W H Ellerbe, was a , candidate for Comptroller General I and Governor, that Mr Ragsdale I and a large majority of the Democrats of Florence supported him. He does not mention the fact that when Associate Justice Woods of Marion was elected by the Legislature, that Mr Ragsdale, then Senator from Florence county, and * every Representative from Florence county, supported Justice Woods. He does not mention the fact that Florence county Representatives supported Mr E T Hughes of Marion when he was elected a trustee of Clemson College, a position he now ? holds. He does not mention the fact that Solicitor Wells was born in Marlboro, raised in Marion and only moved to Florence' after he began practicing law,and Hon L M Gasque of Marion is now making a hard effort to win this place. H^ does not tell you that Hon E D Smith is no longer a citizen of Florence county but resides in Lee county, where he has a large farm and has recently built a handsome colonial home where his family now resides and where they have been living for more than a year. Senator Smith has not spent five days consecutively in Florence county for more than a year.
