Mr J W Chapman, proprietor o the Florence Marble Works, paid u an agreeable visit yesterday. M Chapman is doing a noble work ii furnishing free a marble head-ston to mark the grave of any Confeder ate veteran whose relatives are no able to pay this last tribute to thei heroic dead. The population of Kingstree is ir creasing rapidly these days. Th stork visited Mr J J Godwin's horn on February 19 and left a boy; o; Tuesday, the 27th. he presented M and Mrs R H Godwin with a 10 1-: pound boy, and on Monday Mr L ( Dove's household was gladdened b; ' the advent of a little stranger o the feminine persuasion. Postmaster Jacobs is in receipt o notice from tne Postoffice depart ment that the postofiice at Indian town will be discontinued on am after March 15. His instruction are "to oDen. deliver and accoun for the mail addressed to it." If th< patrons of that office want mail ac commodation nearer than Kingstre* it behooves them to "get busy" an< recommend a new postmaster. Owing to the continued wet weath er, progress on the work of ditchinj and laying water mains has beei somewhat retarded on the Kingstre* Water Works, but Mr. B F Meeks president of the Meeks Constructioi Co, of Atlanta, Ga, who has th< work in charge, informs us tha with a spell of favorable weathe and an additional force of laborers he will be able to push the worl well ahead during the next tw< weeks. Work on the pumping sta tion, setting the large boilers, etc is now under way, and the erectioi of the huge one hundred foot stee tank, or reservoir, will be commenc ed in a few days. DR. H. U.
