Has Drainage Surveyor Sent to Williamsburg and Georgetown. Washington, June 12?Representative E!lerbe,of the 6th South Carolina district, has received a letter from Prof C G Elliott, in charge of I drainage investigation for the del partment of agriculture, containing I the information that the department [ will shortly begin a survey of lands near Morrisville and Rhems, in Williamsburg county,South Carolina,for the purpose of determining the cost of drainage of this area of about 40,000 acres. A party of department experts is now engaged in surveying a tract of about the same extent in Georgetown county, and will go thence to Williamsburg county. It is the intention of the owners of the Georgetown tract,if they find the drainage proposition practicable, to sell these reclaimed lands to farmers in order to promote the general development of the section.
