In keeping with our suggestion last week as to potential enterprises to b< established here by the Southern Cotton Oil Company, resulting from its acquiring the local oil mill property, we are now at liberty to state that in addition to the cotton ginneries to be operated, the new owners of the oil mill plant have decided to put in a fertilizer factory here in the near future. Just what will be the size and capacity of the fertiiizeV factory cannot be determined until the promoters have made a thorough investigation of the situation with regard to the local demand for their manufactured product as well as the amount of the raw material available at first hand. The capital stocks of the different fertilizer plants now operated in this State differ widely according to local conditions, varying from $3,000 to $4,000 up to $200,000. It is hardly probable that the plant to be operated here will exceed $20,000 or $25,000,but a new enterprise even of that size will be a distinct advantage to the town from an industrial and commercial standpoint. It is highly probable that should the fertilizer plant prove profitable the oil mill will be re-constructed and put in operation. The Southern Cotton Oil Company has abundant financial resources and is not afraid to invest any amount of money in a dividend-earning enterprise. i_ .l:. in una uuiiuriiiuxi, tu >;ivc iicuu where justly deserved, the fact that the ginning situation is relieved, that the fertilizer plant is in sight and another oil mill a strong probability, is due primarily to the efforts of Mr L P Kinder, the local representative of the Southern Cotton Oil Company.
