The following item from Mc- j Coll is published in the Laurinburg Exchange: A few miles from McColl?in the lower nart of Scotland count}*, N & 0,?lives Mr Tan Morrison and his two brothers, all bachelors, and living contented, happy, carefree lives on their plantation. Or, lather, ' they would if the oldest brother, Mr Tan Morrison, enjoyed good health. But, like the woman recorded in Holy Writ. Mr Tan had "suffered! many things of many physicians" ' and was nothing bettered (or supposed be was not, which amounts to * the same tbilfc). Unlike the woman fee had not "spent all." Hearing of the famous cures per: formed by Dr Hathaway and Co, of Atlanta, Mr Morrison hied to At* lanta last Thursday, placed himself in the hands of this doctor ?thongntfully taking his check, book with him! -.'Here is the rest of iche story in his own words: f "WhenT got to Atlanta, I found that Pr Hathaway had left the city, bat that an ''eminent L?onuon ' specialist" was in his office. I found two men there who questioned me so fast, and talked so much, that I seem9d under a spell of some kind. They agreed to make me a well man ip a few days for the sum of $800. I was utterly unable, while with them, to doubt them or to do otherwise than as they bade me." I ffiade i oot the check- for $800, payable; iat the Bank of McCqI!. I became:uneasy and dissatisfied Saturday and Sunday morning some one in their employment .confirmed my doubts. I at .once wired Mr A K O lorn, * cashier of the Bank of McColl,'to stop payment on check. This was done. D E Motley was bookkeeper aud assistant cashier in the Bank of Liiike City up to the day he disappeared some time in 1009. After an examination it was found that he was short in his accounts something ,over $9,000. He was arrested about v a year afterwards on a farm in New <* Jersey and brought back here last winter for trial. Motley is a very ' bright man, only about 23 years of age, and was a great favorite in Lake City. Much ^mpathv Was expressed for his father, who attended the trial, aud also for the yonthful transgressor, who shewed I his penitence by openly confessing his guilt. Dr Williams, president of the bank, joined in a request to the court to make the sentence only eighteen months in the county jail. Friends of Motley are confident that he will yet live down this dark hour and become the useful citizen I he is so well qualified by nature to be. .
