scheme is the building of a railroad
between Florence and <
Georgetown. This matter of r
late has been under discussion c
by the citizens of both cities, t
but the first step towards the c
actual perfection of such a road r
has just recently been made a
and it appears now that the t
ones who are promoting the e
plan are in dead earne-t to con- p
nect the two cities by direct t
railway at an earlv^date. This \
matter is of considerable im- c
portance to both cities, in that a
Florence is desirous of connect- t
ing with a seaport town and c
Georgetown cannot afford to t
miss the opportunity of direct t
connection with the railroad 1
t
centre.
H M Ayer, representing the
people ot Florence and the e
chamber ot commerce, in a let- r
? ter addressed to the people of r
Georgetown, writes in part as c
