Tuesday morning the front1 door of the building" formerly occupied as the Kingstree dispensary was bedecked with some sort of black material, presumably emblematic of the passing of the system in Williamsburg county, , which event occurred at sun-set on the previous day. The Kingstree branch of the county system had died a natural death the day before, the last drop of spirituous, vinous, or any other alcoholic product which if imbibed too freely is liable to paint landscapes on the brain of the imbiber, not to speak of the fresco effect upon the "scenter" of the face, having been sold at 1:45 p. m., and there was still left many a thirsty soul who clamored in vain for just one more half-pint that might have been overlooked. It would have been amusing but for the intense earnestness of the eleventh hour buyers who strove to get just a "wee drap of the crayther' before the stock was entirely depleted. On Saturday there was nothing left except a lot of half pints of cheap corn and brandy, yet the sales amounted to $615 on that day; while on Monday, the? last day, with just the fragments of the old stock lett, there was sold up to the time the supply exhausted $29G.75 worth, making the total sales for the last two days of the local dispensary's existence amount to over $900. improvements around Station.
