Editor County Kkcokd: I note the comment by the eel iter in reference to the salary of > t^e railroad commissioners. I am aware that the commissioner is paid by the railroads of South Carolina, but my information is that the State collects the tax from the railroad companies and pays the money over to those three commissioners. The State lawmakers created office ot the dispensary I -board and the State lawmakers created the board of railroad commissioners. Both of those newly created offices have never done any good for our State or people at large,but have proven to be a source ot graft from the ) day they were created. Our ^ I people at large would get betI ter accommodation at the hands of the railroad companies had ! those three men never been put j into office, and the same rule ap plies to the old dispensary board. While there has been but little gralt found in the county dispensary board, yet evil must grow out of the sale of whisky. , Our people in this lower part of Williamsburg county have decided to join hand in band and when the 17th of August comes to vote solidly against the dispensary. We expect to put in four months of hard work against the sale of whisky in our county. If a part of the' county is dry and deprived of the benefit of the profits arising from the sale of whisky, why not let the whole county be dry with us? Let us all share alike. The lower part ot this county will show her colors on August 17. Our solid vote, coupled with that of the balance of the prohibitionists of the upper county, will, I believe, rid our county of the discriminating, unjust sale [of this sin cursed evil, rum. The lower part of Williamsburg county is under prohibition and we can still exist and we would like to see the whole county try it at least a while. We hope eviry voter in this lower part of the county to a man will go to :he polls and vote the prohibition ticket. Let's put it on a fair dpal at the ballot box. This is democratic. Let ,the ma'jority rule, so come to the bal| lot box on the 17th of August and rule rum out of our county. The ballot box is the place to settle this matter. Our lawmakers have given us the chance to decide this question for ourselves. Now, don't neglect this opportunity. As the writer has often said before in the columns of The Record, rum is evil, the law that governs the sale of it is evil and unjust. The handling of it furnishes temptation for graft and unjust dealings. In Cod's Word, He says: "Look not upon the wine,red in the glass."
